Albus Severus Potter just boarded the Hogwarts Express, waving to his mum, Ginevra “Ginny” Potter, his dad, Harry Potter, his sister, Lily Potter, his aunt, Hermione Weasley, his uncle, Ronald “Ron” Weasley, and his cousin, Hugo Weasley. His cousin, Rose Weasley was doing the same.
“Rose?” said Albus as he set his owl and trunk in the luggage rack.
“Yes?” asked Rose as she caught the chocolate frog on the window.
“James was teasing me on the way to King’s Cross. He kept saying I might be Sorted into Slytherin,” said Albus.
“That’s rubbish! You’ll be Sorted into Gryffindor, naturally,” said Rose.
Four hours later, Albus, Rose, and Albus’s older brother, James, were changed into their robes.
James’s robes were black with a white dress shirt underneath, black slacks and a red and gold tie, symbolizing that he was a proud Gryffindor, like his father and his grandfather.
Although James had the Gryffindor tie, Rose and Albus did not. They were only First Years. James was a Second Year. Albus and Rose’s robes were the same as James’s – black with a white dress shirt underneath – but no tie, for, they were not yet Sorted into a House.
The train stopped and Albus and Rose retrieved their belongings from the luggage rack.
Rose, James, and Albus heard the familiar voice of Rubeus Hagrid.
“Firs’ years over ‘ere! Firs’ years over ‘ere, please!” called Hagrid.
“Good luck, you two,” said James as he headed to the carriages.
James walked off.
Albus took a few deep breaths.
“Al, are you coming along or are you going to stay on the platform all night?” asked Rose impatiently.
“Right, well, let’s go then.”
Hagrid led the First Years to the boats.
“Everyone hop on, now,” said Hagrid.
Hagrid stopped Albus and Rose before they could get onto one of the empty boats.
“Rose! Albus! Nice to see you lot again. ‘Aven’t seen yeh since summer!” said Hagrid.
Albus and Rose grinned up at Hagrid and he let them pass him.
There were no other empty boats so Albus and Rose stepped onto a boat with a few more people in it.
The boat started moving.
“This is incredible!” whispered Rose in awe.
One of the passengers smirked. Albus and his family had seen the boy who had smirked at Rose on Platform 9 3/4.
“What are you looking at?” drawled the boy who smirked.
“I…” started Rose, “Nothing!”
Rose was very irritated by now.
“Who are you anyway?” asked the boy.
“I am Rose Weasley,” said Rose proudly, “and this is my cousin -” Albus had cut her off by making a sound. He did not need people making fun of him on his first day. Especially when he knew who this person was.
” – Albus Potter,” finished Rose with pride.
Albus put his hand to his forehead and shook his head slowly.
“A Potter and a Weasley…” said the boy slowly.
“I,” said the boy, “am Scorpius Malfoy. This is Irissedda Nott. Her friends call her Iris. This is Michael Zabini.”
“Oh! I didn’t realize -” started Rose, but once again, Albus had cut her off.
“It’s very nice to meet you, Scorpius, Michael, Irissedda,” said Albus. Iris had looked up at Albus when he said her name. He smiled briefly at them all, “but, Rose, it’s time to get off the boat.”
“Off? What d’you mean, ‘off’, Potter. We’re on a boat,” said Scorpius.
Albus looked at Scorpius coolly. “I just happened to know that, but thank you for informing me once more, but we’re here. We’ve arrived at Hogwarts.”
